The top outlet is power from the Electric company for the heat pumps. The bottom outlets are powered by the UPS during a power outage. The heat pumps are powered by the UPS only during the winter months for heat purposes and in the summer months the heat pumps are left to cool during an outage. A hot shower is still possible for the first 12 hours of an outagle becase of the super insulated water holding tanks, just dont use take a long shower.
